Platelet function tests

Platelet function tests are a group of assays that use specialized equipment to measure the ability of platelets to aggregate and promote clotting in a sample of blood. There are a variety of tests available but no one test that identifies all problems with platelet function.

 

The following tests may be used to diagnose the defects in platelets:

• ·Complete blood count (CBC)
• ActivatedPartialThromboplastin Time (APTT), 
• Partial Thromboplastin Time with Kaolin(PTTK) or KaolinCephalin Clotting Time (KCCT)
•   PROTHROMBIN TIME (PT) TEST (TEST TO MEASURE THE EXTRINSICSYSTEM)
•  Bleeding Timeby  Ivy Bleeding Time Test, by Duke Method
• CLOTTING TIME(Lee-White method)
•  AUTOHAEMOLYSIS TEST
