Bright field microscopy(A Type of microscope )

as the name suggests, uses a direct source of light which illuminates the object to make it visible through the microscope. However, this method has some limitations because many objects, such as microorganisms or tissue cells, are transparent, they give a very poor contrast with a bright source of light and are not clearly visible unless they are stained with a coloured dye. Since most staining techniques lead to death of living cells or organisms, it is not possible to observe the objects in a living state.

The principle,

working and use of the bright field microscopy has been described in detail in previous pages.
Inverted microscope This is a modified brightfield microscope in which the lamp and the condenser are above the stage. The objective, body and eyepieces are below the stage. The eyepieces are inclined upwards for convenience. The inverted microscope is useful for examination of cell lines, viral cultures and for urine microscopy.
